My work explores the lives, histories, and resilience of women through my experience as an Iranian American woman shaped by exile. I am interested in how memory, identity, and cultural inheritance remain within us and influence how we understand ourselves.

The female body is both the subject and language of my work. Rather than presenting complete or idealized figures, I work with fragmented body parts—interrupted, obscured, layered, and reconstructed. Through painting, drawing, and mixed media, I use anatomical imagery, collage, textile, and found and assembled materials to create layered works that reflect the fractured and fluid nature of memory.

My work draws upon Persian visual traditions and the women of the Shahnameh. I do not simply depict these historical and mythological women; I look to their stories as mirrors through which I recognize fragments of myself. Their courage, struggles, choices, and resilience create a personal connection between my own memories and stories carried across generations.

Through layering, cutting, assembling, and reconstructing, I connect fragments of personal memory with ancestral histories. My work is ultimately an act of remembrance and reclamation—honoring women whose stories have been overlooked or silenced while exploring how inherited histories continue to shape identity, belonging, and resilience.
